About the Author: Ramamuti S. Mishra, M.D. (Shri Brahmananda Sarasvati) is one of the gurus of Sharon Gannon and David Life, founders of Jivamukti Yoga. He had an extensive background in both Eastern and Western Medicine. In 1958 he founded the Yoga Society of New York, Inc., and in 1964, its country retreat center, Ananda Ashram in Monroe, NY. This and his other main institute, the Yoga Society of San Francisco (Brahmananda Ashram), continue to serve as centers of self analysis and transformation, East-West unity and cultural exchange. A prolific author and East-West Guru, Dr. Mishra contributed a very valuable legacy of teachings that is most relevant in the complex world of today.
